Malín Alegria is the author of seven books for young readers. Her publications and collaborations focus on strong representations of modern day Latinas. Her characters bring to life the many worlds they occupy.
Malín is the Latino Book Award-winning author of the Border Town series, published by Scholastic, in English and Spanish. Malin Alegria collaborated on the Disney/Pixar’s COCO Big Golden Book, which retells the story of the Disney/Pixar movie. Film collaborations include, Collisions with Richard Levine, released in 2018. Her first novel Estrella’s Quinceñera, was published by Simon & Schuster, followed by her Sofi Mendoza’s Guide to Getting Lost in Mexico. Her short stories have appeared in the anthologies “Once Upon a Cuento,” and “15 Candles: 15 Tales of Taffeta, Hairspray, Drunk Uncles, and other Quinceañera Stories”. She was named a New Author to Watch & Read by Latinostories.com and has been featured on National Public Radio’s 2 Languages Many Voices: Latinos in the US.
